Baldwin tours paper converting facility headquarters in Appleton

APPLETON: U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin visited Appvion’s company headquarters in Appleton Friday.

Baldwin toured the paper converting facility and met with Appvion officials to discuss their business and the impact on Wisconsin’s economy. Go to postcrescent.com to watch a video of Baldwin’s visit.

Appvion produces thermal, carbonless and security papers. The company, founded in 1907, has manufacturing operations in Wisconsin, Ohio and Pennsylvania. It employs about 1,700, including 1,100 in Wisconsin, and is 100 percent employee-owned.

Baldwin recently joined 22 of her Senate colleagues in support of the Manufacturing Jobs for America campaign, an effort to get Washington to refocus on manufacturing jobs.

“In Wisconsin, we have a long and proud tradition of making things — paper, engines, tools, ships. Wisconsin is home to one of the largest manufacturing sectors in the nation, supporting a large share of our workforce and exporting goods all over America and the world,” Baldwin said in a statement. “The middle class families, small businesses and manufacturers that are working so hard to move our economic recovery forward deserve to have both parties in Washington working together to strengthen our manufacturing sector — making us more competitive as a nation and helping to create an economy built to last.”
