U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin Announces Over $12 Million to Repair Roads and Bridges Damaged in Summer Flooding in Northern and Western Wisconsin

Announcement comes after Senator Baldwin pushed for emergency relief  following storms in July, August and September

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin today announced $12,245,540 in Emergency Relief (ER) Funding and Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads (ERFO) Funding from the Department of Transportation to repair roads and bridges damaged by last summer’s severe storms and flooding in northern and western Wisconsin.

“I saw firsthand the damage to our roads and bridges and I spoke to many homeowners who were concerned that their communities would not have the resources they needed to repair and rebuild after last summer’s flooding,” said Senator Baldwin. “Today, I’m happy to announce more than $12 million will go towards helping northern and western Wisconsin communities come back stronger than ever.”

This announcement comes after Senator Baldwin sent multiple letters to the Department of Transportation requesting this emergency relief after the storms in July, August and September.

The funding breakdown is below:

Emergency Relief (ER) Funding

• $7,860,540 was awarded to repair damages caused by flooding in Bayfield, Ashland, and Iron Counties in July 2016
• $885,000 was awarded to repair damages caused by storms and flooding in Buffalo and Trempealeau Counties in August 2016
• $1,500,000 was awarded to repair damages caused by storms and flooding in Adams, Buffalo, Chippewa, Clark, Columbia, Crawford, Eau Claire, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Richland, Sauk, Trempealeau, and Vernon Counties in September 2016

Emergency Relief for Federally Owned Roads (ERFO) Funding

• $500,000 was awarded to repair roads on tribal lands damaged by the July 2016 flooding of tribal lands
• $1,500,000 was awarded the U.S. Forest Service to repair roads destroyed by the July 2016 flooding in Bayfield, Ashland, Sawyer and Price Counties
