Baldwin Delivers $5 Million Investment for Emergency Services in Prairie du Chien

Prairie du Chien, WI – Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin visited Prairie du Chien to highlight the nearly $5 million in federal funding she secured for the construction of a new Public Safety Center that will house the Prairie du Chien Police Department, Fire Department, and local EMS.

“Our firefighters, police officers, and first responders are the backbone of public safety in our communities,” said Senator Baldwin. “Whether it’s dealing with the rise of fentanyl and tranq epidemics, responding to extreme weather like fires and flooding, or covering long distances to serve folks in neighboring rural communities, Wisconsin’s first responders face unique challenges. This $5 million federal investment will help our first responders in Prairie du Chien keep their community safe, effectively serve their neighbors, and attract and retain talent.”

The new Public Safety Center will provide the City of Prairie du Chien with much needed space and resources to support its critical work to keep the community safe. Along with serving Prairie du Chien, the police and fire departments also serve surrounding communities in Crawford County and Clayton County, Iowa. Senator Baldwin visited and toured the current fire and police stations and then traveled to the site where construction of the new facility is planned to take place.
