Baldwin Highlights Tax Relief, Infrastructure in Visits to Mineral Point, Platteville and Steuben

Madison, WI – Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin traveled to Mineral Point, Platteville and Steuben to highlight her work delivering tax relief to craft beverage makers and to discuss the Senate-passed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. 

Last year, Senator Baldwin successfully secured permanent tax relief to help craft breweries, wineries and distilleries create jobs and grow the Made in Wisconsin economy.

“I worked to pass the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act and secure permanent tax relief for our Made in Wisconsin wine makers, craft brewers, cider makers and distillers, so small businesses like the American Wine Project can grow and create jobs,” said Senator Baldwin.

“We were delighted to host Senator Baldwin this morning and to share our thoughts on issues and legislation affecting our business and family, including alcohol and beverage taxes, PPP loans, healthcare and prescription drug prices,” said owner of American Wine Project, Erin Rasmussen.

Baldwin also met with local Platteville leaders for a roundtable discussion about the need to expand access to affordable and reliable high speed broadband and her vote for the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Following the roundtable, she met with Crawford County officials and local leaders to discuss her bipartisan legislation, the Rebuilding Stronger Infrastructure Act, which was included in the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

“Speaking with community leaders in both Platteville and Crawford County further illustrated how necessary our bipartisan infrastructure legislation really is. Whether it is expanding access to affordable and reliable high speed broadband to every corner of Wisconsin or creating infrastructure that is climate resilient and built to last, leaders across our state know these investments can’t wait,” said Senator Baldwin.

“The City of Platteville would like to thank Senator Baldwin for taking the time to meet with community leaders about broadband.  It was a great opportunity to discuss key struggles our residents continue to experience on a daily basis regarding intermittent service, slow internet speeds, outages and customer service issue,” said Platteville City Manager Adam Ruechel.  “The City of Platteville is hopeful we can continue to work with Senator Baldwin on a solution in which we can increase reliability and competition with service providers to ensure the City of Platteville and surrounding municipal neighbors can have access to increased broadband services.”

Tomorrow, Baldwin will continue speaking with local businesses and leaders when she visits the Village of Viola and Viroqua.
