Local beer and cheese on the line as the Seattle Seahawks take on the Green Bay Packers in Sunday’s game
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) wagered local beer and cheese from their respective states as the Seattle Seahawks prepare to face the Green Bay Packers in Sunday’s NFC Championship game at CenturyLink Field in Seattle. Senators Murray and Cantwell have offered Rainier and Red Hook beer and Cougar Gold cheese from the Washington State University creamery, while Senator Baldwin has staked New Glarus Spotted Cow beer, Sprecher root beer and Renard’s cheese curds.
“The Packers may pride themselves on winning on Wisconsin’s frozen tundra, but the truth is that the 12th Man provides the greatest home field advantage in the NFL,” Murray and Cantwell said. “It might be cold in Green Bay, but it’s loud in Seattle, and we’re looking forward to a Seahawks win and some Wisconsin beer and cheese courtesy of Senator Baldwin.”
“The only thing 12 represents is the number of the best quarterback in the NFL - Aaron Rodgers,” Baldwin said. “While the Seahawks may be reigning Super Bowl champs, the Packers are poised to claim victory this Sunday and come one step closer to bringing our fifth Vince Lombardi Trophy home to Titletown, USA.”
