Baldwin Statement on President Biden’s Buy American Plan

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin today released the following statement after President Joe Biden announced his plan to strengthen Buy American rules with a proposal that would increase U.S. content in the products the federal government buys and support the domestic production of products critical to our national and economic security.

“President Biden is taking another step to strengthen the federal government’s Buy American standards so that taxpayer dollars are supporting our workers and American-made products,” said Senator Baldwin. “These changes will help make sure America is buying what Wisconsin makes and will support our workers and manufacturers. Our Made in Wisconsin economy welcomes President Biden’s commitment to Buy American.”

Senator Baldwin has long-championed stronger Buy American standards and is a sponsor of the Make It in America Act, bipartisan legislation that will make it harder for federal agencies to use waivers to get around Buy American requirements, requiring the federal government to give preference to American companies and spend taxpayer dollars on American-made products and American jobs.
