American workers and manufacturers deserve a solid commitment from the President and Congressional Republicans on a strong Buy America standard that rewards their hard work
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin announced Roddy Rice of New London, Wisconsin will be her guest for President Trump’s joint address to Congress on Tuesday. Roddy Rice worked at Neenah Foundry for 38 years and will join Senator Baldwin to highlight the need for a strong Buy America commitment from President Trump and Congressional Republicans to Wisconsin workers.
“President Trump will make this address at a time when too many people feel like their voices aren't being heard. When too many hardworking Wisconsinites feel Washington is broken and isn't working for them. It’s my hope that President Trump will lay out a clear plan of action to keep the promises he has made to American workers and manufacturers,” said Senator Baldwin. “I’m looking forward to attending the address with Roddy, who represents the best of Wisconsin and our work ethic that is second-to-none. American manufacturers and workers, like the men and women who work at Neenah Foundry, help build our nation’s water infrastructure and they deserve a solid commitment from the President and Congress on a strong Buy America standard that rewards their hard work. Now is the time for President Trump to decide if he will keep his promises, or go along to get along with Congressional Republicans.”
Senator Baldwin has fought for Wisconsin workers by advancing Buy America legislation to have our infrastructure built with American products, and prevent taxpayers' money from being spent on Chinese iron and steel. Last year, Senator Baldwin succeeded in including a provision requiring water infrastructure to be American-made in legislation that passed the Senate 95-3. However, Speaker Ryan and House Republicans removed this Buy America reform from the Water Infrastructure Improvements Act. Since then, Senator Baldwin has pushed for Buy America reforms to be at the foundation of any new infrastructure plan.
