ICYMI: Baldwin Highlights Support for Apprenticeships and Build America, Buy America with Stop in Kaukauna

KAUKAUNA, WI – Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) visited the UA Local 400 Plumbers & Steamfitters in Kaukauna, where she toured the training labs and met with apprentices to discuss the valuable skills they are learning to land good-paying jobs in the trades. Senator Baldwin also highlighted her work to expand apprenticeship programs and Buy America policies that support labor, grow Wisconsin businesses, and create jobs.

“Today at UA 400, I had the chance to see the high-quality, hands-on training that apprentices receive, allowing them to earn while they learn and providing a direct path to a good-paying career,” said Senator Baldwin. “I’m proud to be leading the charge to invest in and expand apprenticeships, helping more Wisconsinites land a good job and businesses meet demands. I’m also happy to have delivered strong Build America, Buy America standards because it should be Americans and union workers who fix our roads and bridges, rebuild our water infrastructure, and expand access to affordable high-speed internet.”

During the visit, Senator Baldwin toured the new training labs and saw arc welding, air exchange, and medical gas installation demonstrations. Following the tour, Senator Baldwin met with apprentices and discussed her bipartisan National Apprenticeship Act to expand apprenticeship programs to meet the modern economy’s demands, fulfill businesses' needs, and expand the middle class.

Senator Baldwin has successfully passed legislation that includes strong labor provisions and Build America, Buy America rules, including in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act to ensure all taxpayer-funded infrastructure projects are built with American iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials.
