Baldwin also stopped in Green Lake to discuss conservation efforts to protect Wisconsin’s fresh water resources
WISCONSIN – Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) was in Wautoma to visit with small business owners and workers and highlighted her efforts to support Wisconsin’s Main Streets, lower costs for families, and grow our economy.
“Wisconsin’s small businesses are the backbone of our local economies, creating jobs and attracting visitors to communities big and small,” said Senator Baldwin. “I’m proud to be working in Washington to support Wisconsin’s Main Streets, ensuring Made in Wisconsin small businesses have the tools and workforce they need to succeed.”
Senator Baldwin joined members of the Wautoma Chamber of Commerce to visit Main Street businesses and discuss her efforts to support Wisconsin’s small businesses. Last year, Senator Baldwin advanced her bipartisan COOL Online Act out of the Senate Commerce Committee, legislation to protect Made in America goods by ensuring products sold online list their country-of-origin to protect and promote American-made goods for online shoppers.
Senator Baldwin is also working to support and grow the workforce in Wisconsin communities, including investing in child care. Senator Baldwin wrote the bill that invested an additional $1 billion nationwide in child care and early learning programs, resulting in an over $8 million increase for Wisconsin to invest through the Child Care and Development Block Grant program.
Senator Baldwin also visited with leaders in Green Lake to discuss their lake conservation efforts to reduce pollution, improve water quality, and protect Wisconsin’s freshwater resources. Senator Baldwin has long championed initiatives to protect Wisconsin’s freshwater resources, including authoring the bill to extend the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, which aims to solve key problems facing the Great Lakes and to accelerate clean-up efforts.
