Senator Baldwin Helps Secure $430,000 for the Green Bay Metro Fire Department

Funding will help train fire fighters, provide them equipment to keep community safe from pipeline accidents and emergencies

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin announced that the Green Bay Metro Fire Department will receive nearly $430,000 to help train firefighters and provide them the equipment necessary to keep the community safe from pipeline accidents and emergencies. The funding comes from the Department of Transportation’s Pipeline Emergency Response Grant, a program funded by the Senator Baldwin-supported Fiscal Year 2023 annual government funding bill.

“Every day, our firefighters put themselves in harm’s way to protect us and our communities," said Senator Baldwin. “I am happy to have helped secure funding to give our firefighters the training, tools, and resources they need to keep Wisconsinites safe.”

Green Bay Metro Fire Department will use the funding to train team members, including training on pipeline emergency response planning, training, and exercises, pipeline leak recognition; development and maintenance of pipeline training curriculum, and training equipment and supplies. It will also provide equipment for first responders required to respond to pipeline emergencies in higher-risk areas.
