Senator Baldwin Statement on Netanyahu's Address to Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. – After attending Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s joint meeting of Congress, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) released the following statement:

“I had hoped that Netanyahu would use this opportunity to lay out a concrete plan to end the war in Gaza, bring home the hostages, surge humanitarian assistance into Gaza, and set us on a course for a two-state solution. I am deeply disappointed that he did not do that. Since the day of the horrific terrorist attacks on October 7th, I have been resolute in my support for Israel’s right to defend itself and the need to end Hamas’s threat, but the time has come for the innocent bloodshed and the war to end. The way in which Netanyahu has gone about this war has not reunited the hostages with their families and appears to only be moving us further away from security, stability, and peace in the region. Hamas and the Netanyahu government must come to the table to reach a ceasefire agreement. We need to end this war, we need to get hostages home, and we need to be moving forward with a two-state solution now.”
