WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin released the following statement today in response to a letter from the Social Security Administration confirming ongoing investigations by the Office of Special Counsel and Office of the Inspector General into allegations of harassment, retaliation and management issues at Social Security’s Offices of Disability Adjudication and Review in Madison and Milwaukee.
“For the last year, I have worked on behalf of whistleblowers to shine a light on serious allegations of wrongdoing, harassment and retaliation at Wisconsin Social Security offices,” said Senator Baldwin. “Now, the Social Security Administration is taking those allegations seriously and a number of investigations and reviews have been initiated. We eagerly await the completion of ongoing investigations by the Office of Special Counsel and Office of the Inspector General so that the Social Security Administration can take appropriate action to ensure these offices are both safe places to work for employees and provide the highest-quality of service to taxpayers.”
Beginning in September 2015, Senator Baldwin has worked on behalf of Wisconsin whistleblowers and raised questions with the Social Security Administration, the Office of Special Counsel and Office of the Inspector General about wrongdoing, harassment and retaliation at Wisconsin Social Security offices.
