WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin released the following statement on the Paris Agreement:
"Let there be no doubt, global climate change poses a growing threat to our planet, our country, our Great Lakes and Wisconsin.
"Unfortunately, President Trump refuses to believe climate change is occurring, questioning sound science and calling it a 'hoax.' Backing out of the Paris Agreement now and turning our back on the rest of the world after years of strong U.S. leadership is bad for our environment, bad for our economy and fails future generations.
"While the threat of climate change may be daunting, we cannot continue to let the challenges overwhelm us into inaction. When a vast majority of climate scientists agree that human activity is drastically changing the planet’s climate, doing nothing is simply not an option. The longer we wait, the more costly climate change will be.
"We must take action now. We have a moral obligation to future generations to do something about this challenge. It’s now or never."
