“It is an honor to receive the ‘Friend of Farm Bureau’ award for bringing our Wisconsin values to the national conversation about how we invest in farming, rural development, and moving our economy forward,” said Senator Baldwin. “Our strong agricultural sector is a driver of economic growth, so I will continue to work to build a Grown in Wisconsin economy with Wisconsin family farmers.”
"Wisconsin Farm Bureau members appreciate the work that Senator Baldwin does on behalf our state’s diverse agricultural community. Senator Baldwin understands the broad array of issues that impact Wisconsin’s farm families and our state’s $88 billion agricultural economy. Her recognition as a ‘Friend of Farm Bureau’ is a result of her support for key pieces of agricultural legislation before the U.S. Congress,” said Jim Holte, Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation President.
The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation thanked Senator Baldwin for casting critical votes to pass the Agricultural Act of 2014 and the Water Resources Reform Development Act (WRRDA). Senator Baldwin helped pass WRRDA, which addressed the Great Lakes dredging crisis and invested in Wisconsin's water infrastructure. Senator Baldwin also supported the Agricultural Act, known as the Farm Bill, which invested in a Grown in Wisconsin economy and created opportunities for new family farmers to carry on the Wisconsin tradition.
In January, Senator Baldwin earned an appointment to U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies. The Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture is responsible for deciding how the federal government spends money on strengthening American farming, spurring rural development, maintaining food safety, and more.
