Washington—U.S. Senator Baldwin will be attending Memorial Day ceremonies in Spooner on Sunday and Eau Claire on Monday. She also released the following statement in honor of Memorial Day:
“This Memorial Day, we join together as a community to pay tribute to the men and women who served and sacrificed to protect and defend the American freedoms that we all cherish."
“We honor the memory of the Wisconsin sons and daughters who made the ultimate sacrifice and we hold their families in our hearts– the parents, spouses, children, and friends who’ve carried the weight of losing a loved one. They have done more for our country than anyone could ever expect. They have faced every struggle and challenge, and worked to rise above it. And they need to know their example is an inspiration to me, and to every citizen in Wisconsin."
“Let us also take this opportunity remember that we have a shared responsibility to serve, support and honor our military families in communities across Wisconsin. We can all do our part to ensure that our wounded warriors and their families receive the care and benefits they have earned and deserve. I remain committed to working hard every day in the U.S. Senate to keep our promise to our service men and women, and our military families. To stand up for those that served and sacrificed-- giving them a voice in Washington-- to keep the sacred trust we hold with members of our nation’s military and their families."
“On this solemn day, let us draw strength from the courageous sacrifice of those we honor. Let us come together and remember these American patriots and the American values that we share. Let us all be inspired by their service to the great nation we are blessed to call home.”
