U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin Supports Level Playing Field for Wisconsin Businesses, Reauthorization of Export-Import Bank
Washington D.C. – As the Export-Import Bank nears expiration, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin has voiced her support for reauthorization. Unless Congress takes action, the Export-Import Bank is set to expire September 30, which will stop its assistance to the thousands of U.S. exporters that benefit from this federal agency.
“If American businesses have a level playing field, they can compete against anyone. The Export-Import Bank is an important tool that helps us create that level playing field, bringing fairness to global trade and supporting American businesses so they can create jobs and grow,” said Baldwin. “I’ve seen first-hand the impact the bank has had on Wisconsin companies that have taken advantage of the bank’s counsel and resources to export goods across the world. Reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank is a commonsense way to strengthen our economy and ensure our American competiveness.”
Since 2007, the Export-Import Bank has helped 180 Wisconsin businesses, including 105 small businesses, by supporting the export of nearly $4 billion worth of goods.
