Baldwin Highlights Importance of “Made in Wisconsin” Manufacturing
MENOMONEE FALLS, WI – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin today toured the Harley-Davidson Powertrain Operations – Pilgrim Road facility in Menomonee Falls to highlight the importance of manufacturing in Wisconsin’s economy.
“For decades in Wisconsin, we’ve worked to make things: paper, engines, tools, ships, and the world’s best motorcycles,” said Senator Baldwin. “Manufacturers like Harley-Davidson, which employs over 900 Wisconsin workers in this factory, have long been the backbone of our Wisconsin economy. In order to create economic security for Wisconsin families, we need to invest in growing our Made in Wisconsin manufacturing economy.”
Harley-Davidson employs 993 Wisconsin workers at the Pilgrim Road Powertrain Operations factory, home of the “Big Twin” engine. Workers use state-of-the-art equipment to produce engines and transmissions for world-class Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The facility is jointly managed by salaried leadership and representatives from United Steelworkers (USW) and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM).
In April, Senator Baldwin joined Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) to launch the bipartisan “Manufacturing Jobs for America” (MJA) campaign. This month Senator Baldwin has travelled the state and visited manufacturers in the Fox Valley, including Team Industries in Kaukauna and Neenah Foundry in Neenah.
