VIDEO: Baldwin Calls for Accountability, Answers from Coast Guard Officials on Undisclosed, Decades-Long Sexual Assault Cover-Ups

Baldwin: “We owe it to our servicemembers and the American public to get answers and to get substantive change”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Chair of the Subcommittee on Oceans, Fisheries, Climate Change and Manufacturing, which oversees the Coast Guard, led her committee members in questioning Coast Guard officials about the mishandling of a previously undisclosed, years-long investigation into sexual assault allegations at the Coast Guard Academy.

After learning of these reports, Senator Baldwin and Senator Cantwell sent a letter to the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard Admiral Linda Fagan, seeking answers and accountability to learn why this was withheld from Congress and the American people and ensure perpetrators are held accountable, victims are supported, and the Coast Guard is a safe place in the future.
